Apple plans to launch the device initially on Sept. 21 in nine
countries, including the U.S., Canada, U.K., Japan and Hong Kong. It
will add 22 more countries the following week and plans to have the
iPhone 5 in 100 countries at 240 wireless carriers by the end of the
year.
Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray lifted his iPhone shipment target to 27.2
million from 22 million for the September quarter, given the more
aggressive launch plan. Strong sales of the iPhone 5 at the end of the
month will likely be offset by a slowdown in sales during the bulk of
the quarter, as many customers have been holding off purchases, waiting
for the new products.
With this upgrade in the pre-market launch sales output, get ready to bang in on Apple these few days...
